Channeling My Latina Resiliency to Live a Life Sin Límites

Latina Sin Limites • Jun 10, 2025 8:25:14 AM • Written by: Vanessa Rae Alonso

Bienvenida to the very first episode of Latina Sin Límites! This podcast was created to inspire, support, and empower Latinas como tú to reach your full potential. I’m your host, Vanessa Rae Alonso, and I’m thrilled to kick off this adventure with a personal story about Latina resilience, growth, and finding the place each of us deserve in the world.

In this episode, we acknowledge what it means to embrace Latina resiliency—a superpower we’ve had all along but sometimes can’t recognize because of the environments in which we have lived. I start by sharing my journey of navigating obstacles as a first-generation Latina professional, surviving tough challenges but eventually thriving by owning mi historia y mis raíces. Latina resiliency is about floreciendo despite the difficult conditions and channeling that strength into a life of abundance, purpose, and authenticity, como las rosas que crecen del concreto.

From this episode, I want you to understand with certainty that no dream is too big, and no obstacle is too difficult when we lean into our power and support one another. Vamos juntas, because when one of us blooms, we all do!

About This Episode

Defining Latina Resiliency

We begin by understanding the heart of Latina resiliency—a unique strength rooted in our cultural experiences. I share how growing up in a state of survival to reach my goals within my family, like many of you, I was a first generation college student, first generation lawyer, first generation professional, and, gracias a Dios, first generation wealthy, all of those things just set us up to where we have aspirations, but we don't have the infrastructure. We don't have the guidance or anyone in our family, in our circles, to help us get there. Latina resiliency has taught me to adapt and overcome, even when the odds were against me. As I reflect on these moments, I’m reminded of a quote:

“We are roses that bloom from concrete.”

That’s the power of Latina resiliency: overcoming the boundaries and barriers the world has put in front of us to shine bright and inspire others.

A Garden of Roses

Early in my career, I struggled to shift from survival to thriving. The garden of roses in my life—my mom, grandmothers, and amigas—lifted me up through tough challenges like finding my first job during a time of economic turmoil. My garden of roses reminded me of the importance of comunidad and leaning on others when times are tough.

“No one is self-made. We all have a bouquet of roses who help us grow.”

Learning to support one another and accept help when we need it is essential for our growth and empowerment to living a life sin límites.

Knowing Who You Are and Where You Stand

We also talk about identity and values, and how understanding these elements is essential to living authentically. Through journaling exercises, I guide you to reflect on your roles, values, and moments when you feel most like yourself. It may seem like it’s just a self-discovery process, but it’s about aligning your energy to attract the things that you truly want in la vida de tus sueños.

“When we openly discuss our struggles, our dreams, our goals, we’re inviting the universe to bring these roses to our life to create a ripple effect to help us pursue a life sin límites and create a strong comunidad.”

When we honor and follow these two vita components, we create an authentic path toward the life we truly want."

Building a Life Sin Límites

Finally, I share how embracing my Latina resiliency and leaning on my comunidad allowed me to build a thriving career and life of purpose. My journey is proof that when we own our power, anything is possible. I’m here to guide you through your own journey.

“Latina resiliency is about thriving and creating a future where we all thrive.”

When we embrace our strength and uplift each other, we open doors to limitless possibilities.
